Area Seniors, Inc. formed in 1994 and became a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization in 1995 interested in promoting the well-being of senior citizens in Antrim County. The goal of building a Senior Center in Bellaire was realized in 1997. Area Seniors, Inc. maintained the Senior Center for 12 years through fund-raising and donations. In October 2009 Area Seniors, Inc. worked with the townships to assume the responsibility for maintaining the Senior Center in order to pursue new avenues for programs and activities for community members of ALL AGES.
As of January 1, 2010 Area Seniors, Inc. released from the COA Senior Center which then became tax-payer-funded. Area Seniors, Inc. maintained ownership of the property behind the COA Senior Center and built the pole barns, pavilion, Activity Center and Park and continues to run as a 501(c)3 NON-PROFIT organization.
We rely on revenues from our summer Yard Sales, Bellaire Farmers Market vendor fees, Activity Center rentals, memberships, and donations in order to continue providing programs and events for Antrim County homesteaders off all ages!
